Wild wild vest! - Knitted baby vest, English version

Da jeg bragte opskriften på den strikkede vest i sidste uge, blev der spurgt, om jeg ikke kunne oversætte den til engelsk. Til det måtte jeg desværre sige, at jeg ikke er så sej til de engelske strikketermer, så det kunne jeg ikke:( MEN jeg lovede at få en til at gøre det.. Og det skete så hurtigt, at jeg nærmest ikke nåede at spørge: Knalddygtige Line med bloggen Hæklemor (findes også på Facebook) havde oversat hele molevitten på under et døgn efter, at jeg spurgte. Tusind tak Line, du er bare sej! Line er superproduktiv med både hækle- og strikkepinde og er simpelthen vildt dygtig. Hun er også ved at lave en kreabog og så laver hun skønne børn - af hvilke hun har 3,5 (tre udenfor og en indeni maven). Ja, hun er altså bare sej! Og så har hun som sagt oversat vesten (og mine tvivlsomme strikkevejledninger) til engelsk :)

 10sts x 10 rows = roughly 16x20 cm

Abbreviations Used

BO = bind off

CO = cast on

K = knit

P = purl

Ptbl = Purl through the back loop

Ktbl = knit through the back loop

M1 = make one by Yarn Over

M = (stitch) marker

PM = place marker

SM = slip marker

YO = yarn over

CO = cast on

This vest is a bit to the small side but knitted top-down in K2P2 rib in the round. That way you can try it on as you go along.

NOTE

 All increases are made by making a YO that you on the next row purl or knit through the back loop. To make a smooth transition into the rib pattern all increases that is made BEFORE a SM are to be Ktbl or Ptbl to match the previous stitch and all increases made AFTER a SM are to be made to match the following stitch.

Instructions

Cast on by using the long-tail cast on (Continental cast on) with 2 threads of yarn.

CO:  60 (68) sts on circular needle.

Knit 3 rounds in rib (2K2P). Make sure not to twist the stitches as you begin the rounds.

On next round you continued in rib while you PM after 10(12), 20(22), 10(12) and 20(22) sts. The last marker is the beginning of the round.

Now you begin the increases that are worked in two steps:

1: SM, M1, knit in rib to next marker, M1, SM, knit in rib to next marker, SM, M1, knit to next marker, M1, SM, knit in rib to 1. marker

2:  (read the “Note” about how to knit the increases from the previous round ) SM, knit in rib to marker, SM, M1, knit in rib to marker, M1, SM, knit in rib to marker, SM, M1, knit in rib to end of round, M1.

 Repeat round 1 and 2 for at total of 12(16) rounds until you have a total of 108 (132) sts. (Between the markers that is 22(28), 32(38), 22(28) and 32(38) sts)

Knit 2 rounds

On the next round you make the armholes by binding of the stitches on the sleeves.

Loosely BO 22(28) sts, M1x2 (4), knit in rib 32(38) sts, M1x2 (4), loosely BO 22(28) sts, M1x2 (4) knit in rib 32(38), M1x2 (4)

You should now have a total of 72 (92) sts

Continue with rib pattern in the rounds until you have reached the desired length. For my kids that means 19 (23) cm from armholes til bottom. Loosely BO in rib pattern and you are doneJ
